Michelle's French Bread

In an earlier post I mentioned Michelle's super yummy french bread. I thought I'd share the original recipe too. It's so good and easy to make.

Dissolve and stir:
2 pkg. yeast
3 cups warm water
1/2 cup sugar

1 tbsp salt
1/4 cup oil
7-8 cups flour

Knead for 10-15 minutes. Cover and let rise in greased bowl until double (about 1 hour). Punch down and divide in two. Shape in rectangle and roll up tapering ends. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Gash diagonally with a sharp knife. Let rise for about 30 minutes. Mix 2 egg whites and 1 tbsp water until foamy. Brush over loaves. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
